After You Have Gone

After You Have Gone.jpeg

This month I am exploring the idea of "the journey."  My songs start their journey in my journal.  The two words (journey and journal) are related; they derive from the Latin words "dies" (day) and "diurnum" (daily portion).

A lot goes on in my journals: sketches, bits of conversation, messages to myself, lyrics from songs I am listening to and studying.  Each picture is a map, you could say, of my mind on that particular day.

How do you capture your ideas?  I am songwriter who uses drawings to go deeper.  Are you a writer who uses music to make something happen?  Or maybe you are a painter who uses words to find your way?   Let me know in the comments below.
