July 2008 News
7/5/2008 4:42:06 AM - July is upon us and Kate can be found on the isle of Manhattan mixing the Telephone Game at Shelter Island Sound in Chelsea with Canadian mix engineer Michael Phillip Wojewoda.  They have been mixing a tune a day and are almost halfway through the album.  Shelter Island has a wonderful collection of vintage analog gear - compressors, eq's and a tricked-out MCI 600 console from the late 70's.  Needless to say, the hours are long but the analog sounds they are getting are well worth it. The album is on track to be released on August 1st on Artistshare.  Standby!

Share Your Ideas // Inspire New Songs
Kate reads every scrap of fanmail she receives. Now she is encouraging her fans to share ideas - both musical and lyrical - when they write. This is a way for you to be a part of the making of "The Telephone Game," Kate's upcoming album, due out August 2008. Whisper your ideas in her ear. She will answer every letter and email.

Over the next months, Kate will be making thousands of tiny decisions while writing and producing the songs for "The Telephone Game." Tell her the little details about what you love about your favorite music, or share a story that could inspire a song, or report on a great live concert you've seen, or send a list of possible song titles.

It is music time 24/7 for Kate. She wants to talk to her fans about the making of music, which is a difficult and gritty business, and she wants to talk to her fans about listening to music, which is the most beautiful business.

Best of 2007 ...
NO LOVE LOST received some good news from the online songwriting website / resource known as the Muse's Muse (http://www.musesmuse.com/).

Senior reviewer Gian Fiero named NO LOVE LOST as 2007's "Best Jazz Vocal CD." He also tapped the song "Raining" as the "Best Jazz Single" of 2007. He loved Kate's version of "Glamorous Life" as well -- naming it the "Best Cover Song" of 2007.
The Latest NO LOVE LOST Review ...
... just came in from Philly. Jonathan Takiff has this to say: "I'm kicking myself that I missed Kate Schutt's recent visit to the Tin Angel. Her self-released and exquisitely produced "No Love Lost" (www.kateschutt.com, A-) is one of the finer female singer-songwriter sets of the year. Fans of Norah Jones will feel the warmth."

For the record: Kate didn't play the Tin Angel (she can't even get her foot in the door over there, but we digress...). She DID play the TRITONE. She calls it one of her "all-time" favorite clubs. Vibe for miles. Don't ask to use the house deck of playing cards, though. It only has 47 cards in it. That's not enough to play Hearts; it is enough to play War.
